Inclusive Education and Intervention
Blakeview Primary School is committed to making sure every child feels welcome, supported, and able to learn in a way that works for them. This is called inclusive education.
The school’s role is to:
- Include all students, no matter their abilities, background, or learning needs.
- Work closely with families to understand each child’s strengths and challenges.
- Support teachers to make adjustments to instruction, the classroom, or routines so every student can participate and succeed.
- Provide intervention support (extra help) when a child needs it—this could be in class, in small groups, or with a specialist teacher.
- Plan and monitor progress using clear goals, and regularly check in with families and other professionals involved.
The aim is to give every student the chance to learn, grow, and belong—together with their peers.
We provide targeted intervention programs including:
- Speech and Language Intervention: Supports students with articulation and communication difficulties to improve their understanding and use of language.
- Synthetic Phonics Intervention: Teaches students to read by explicitly linking sounds to letters and blending them to form words.
- MacqLit: A structured, small-group reading program designed to support students who need help with reading fluency and comprehension.
- Writing Intervention for EALD Students: Builds the writing skills of students learning English as an additional language through targeted language and literacy support.
- QuickSmart Numeracy: Helps students develop automatic recall of basic number facts and improve confidence and accuracy in maths.
If you have concerns about the learning progress of a student in your care please don’t hesitate to reach out the Intervention and Wellbeing Team.
